Beyond Odds Technologies, founded by former OYO and Unacademy senior executive Vivek Sinha, has announced a seed investment of $11 million. The funding round was led by Matrix Partners India and Lightspeed, with participation from InnoVen Capital (a Temasek subsidiary) and Alteria Capital. The round also saw support from prominent angel investors, including Ritesh Agarwal (Founder, OYO), Gaurav Munjal (Founder, Unacademy), Mayank Kumar (Founder, Upgrad), and several others.

The primary objective of Beyond Odds Technologies is to address the shortage of skilled labor in critical sectors like healthcare, education, hospitality, and construction. The platform plans to achieve this by offering high-quality training, certification, and recruitment services tailored for the grey collared workforce. They aim to train candidates at scale through hands-on programs with industry partners and establish physical centers to create a job-ready talent pool.

Emversity, the company's higher education brand, is set to launch its first center in Bangalore on 20th April, followed by six more centers in cities like Hyderabad, Delhi, and Kochi this quarter. In collaboration with top-rated universities, Emversity will offer Bachelor's degrees and certification courses focusing on allied health sciences. The courses will cover areas like Emergency & Trauma Care Technology, Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Technology, and Hospital Administration, among others.

Emversity has already partnered with leading healthcare institutions like Fortis Hospitals and Core Diagnostics to tailor their programs to meet specific skill requirements. These institutions will also serve as recruiting partners for both full-time jobs and internships for Emversity's students.

Founder & CEO Vivek Sinha outlined the broader vision for the platform, emphasizing its role in addressing workforce shortages in both domestic and global markets. He highlighted the unique features of Emversity's courses, including integrated income opportunities and placement assistance.

Rajat Agarwal, Managing Director at Matrix Partners India, commented on the investment, praising Vivek's understanding of the issue and his ability to establish pioneering institutions. Harsha Kumar, Partner at Lightspeed, acknowledged the unique approach of Beyond Odds in tackling the talent and skills gap across industries.
