GE Healthcare has unveiled the Voluson Signature 20 and 18 ultrasound systems, integrating artificial intelligence (AI), cutting-edge tools, and ergonomic design to expedite examinations for clinicians and offer clearer insights into various women's health conditions. These advanced systems combine robust hardware with adaptable software to bolster clinicians' confidence in diagnostic and treatment decisions.

As patient volumes rise and health conditions grow increasingly complex, particularly for women facing pregnancy-related complications and other reproductive health issues, health systems grapple with workforce shortages. A GE Healthcare study found that 42% of clinicians are considering leaving the healthcare industry. To meet growing patient demands and alleviate staffing challenges, clinicians require tools like innovative AI-enabled ultrasound technologies for swift, precise, and confident diagnoses.

Dr. Ben Csapo, Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist from Graz, Austria, commented on the significant advancements in ultrasound technology, particularly AI-driven features that enhance diagnostic capabilities while reducing workload. "Building connections with patients is paramount. Having tools that enable clinicians to work more efficiently is beneficial for patient care," Dr. Csapo added.

Key Features of the AI-Powered Voluson Signature 20 and 18 Systems:

- Voice-Operated Control: The "Hey Voluson" feature enables hands-free operation via voice commands, enhancing efficiency.

- SonoLyst: This AI-powered suite identifies fetal anatomy on standard views, automatically annotating and measuring, potentially reducing ISUOG second-trimester exam times by up to 40%.

- SonoPelvicFloor: Automates pelvic floor assessments, reducing keystrokes by up to 76% through automated alignment and measurements.

- Fibroid Mapping: Utilizes AI to standardize and simplify fibroid documentation by mapping, measuring, and classifying fibroids.

- fetalHS: Speeds up fetal heart assessments by up to 48% by providing AI-guided, step-by-step guidance to identify normal fetal heart anatomy.

- Wireless Workflow: The integration of Vscan Air CL wireless dual probe offers flexible, cable-free maneuverability.

Gerald Seifriedsberger, General Manager of Women’s Health Ultrasound at GE Healthcare, emphasized the potential of these advancements to improve early detection of fetal abnormalities and gynecological conditions like endometriosis. "Our AI-driven applications and advanced automation features not only simplify exams but also enhance image clarity, enabling clinicians to navigate demanding workflows more efficiently and deliver better health outcomes for women," Seifriedsberger said.
