Kapil Dev Urges Public to Vote During Lok Sabha Elections While Unveiling Robotic Orthopedic Technology at Manipal Hospital

Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev emphasized the significance of voting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, urging citizens to cast their votes.

During an event at Manipal Hospital, Kharadi, where he unveiled the hospital's new advanced robotic technology for joint replacement, Dev shared his views on various topics ranging from sports to politics.

"Vote dete nahi lekin gyaan dete hain (Those who abstain from voting, however, are eager to offer advice. They should refrain from even mentioning the ‘P’ of politics),” said Dev.

Responding to questions about players entering politics, Dev commented that each player has their own thought process. “If politicians can step into the sports arena, then players should also have the opportunity,” he added.

Expressing contentment with his current life, Dev stated, “My life mantra is continuous learning. I had a passion for playing, and people enjoyed it. I am grateful for that.” Nowadays, he enjoys traveling, meeting people, and seeking learning opportunities.

Regarding the financial implications of IPL games on players' growth, Dev believes that gaining financial stability is a reason to celebrate. He emphasized the need for wise use of funds and the responsibility of the Cricket Board of India to guide players.

On the topic of mental health, Dev highlighted the importance of conversation around it. “In our time, we were unaware of what depression meant. Nowadays, there's a lot of talk about mental health. So, I'd say, talk to people, put away your mobiles, and go play outside. Sweat it out,” he advised.

Meanwhile, Manipal Hospital authorities discussed the benefits of robotic-assisted surgeries. Dr. Sinukumar Bhaskaran, specializing in adult joint replacement and robotic arthroplasty at Manipal Hospital, explained, “Robotic-assisted surgeries aim to enhance knee replacement and joint treatments by reducing risks and improving patient outcomes.”

Parmeshwar Das, director of Manipal Hospital, elaborated on the new system's capabilities, stating, “The new system offers personalized 3D CT scans, providing sub-millimetre accuracy and enhanced safety. It includes real-time bone movement monitoring for more precise implant surgery and a reduced risk of infection.”
