World pulses day is the celebration of contribution of pulses to sustainable food systems, healthy growth, and environmental benefits.
World pulses day is celebrated on February 10th every year in recognition of pulses as a global food. Pulses also known as legumes are the edible seeds of leguminous plats cultivated for food.
Apollo Hospital Ahmedabad and F&B departments took the opportunity to raise awareness and recognize the contribution of pulses to sustainable food systems and the healthy food cycles.
Pulses are also rich in protein and each age group can be benefitted for growth, maintenance of health. Protein as derived from pulses is much contributory then protein derived from animal source. Other than protein pulses have complex carbohydrates, micronutrients, protein and B-Vitamins, which are vital parts of a healthy diet. Low in fat and rich in fibre, pulses are excellent for managing cholesterol, digestive health and regulating energy levels. Pulses are also particularly rich in folate, iron. Calcium, magnesium, zinc and potassium.
