Expressing her joy at Hon'ble Vice President of India Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar's visit to Bharat Biotech on Friday, Suchitra Ella, the managing director and co-founder of the pharma giant, described it as a "reaffirmation of the journey and progress we have made over the past 27-28 years" since the company's inception in Hyderabad.
Ella remarked, "It has been a momentous day at Bharat Biotech, hosting dignitaries like the Vice President, the second lady, and the Telangana governor, which underscores the strides we have taken over the last 27-28 years since Bharat Biotech was established here in Hyderabad."
Highlighting the significance of the Vice President's visit, particularly amidst Bharat Biotech's global recognition for its vaccine production and innovation, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, Ella emphasized its symbolic importance.
"The Vice President's visit serves as a testament to the nation's trajectory towards achieving significant milestones not just in science and technology but across all spheres of influence, be it the economy or agriculture," Ella stated.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the current landscape of India, Ella remarked, "I am truly excited witnessing this transformative phase in our nation, which is vastly different from the India of my upbringing. It's a sense of pride to witness the developments taking place across our nation."
Earlier on Friday, Vice President Dhankhar toured Bharat Biotech's facilities at Genome Valley, Hyderabad, which focus on innovation, research and development, and large-scale vaccine manufacturing.
Commending the company's dedication and resilience amid challenging times, Dhankhar stressed the importance of increased collaboration between industry and academia in research endeavors.
The visit reaffirmed Bharat Biotech's pivotal role in the nation's ongoing immunization programs and its readiness to combat pandemics, the company stated in a press release.
Accompanied by his wife and Telangana Governor CP Radhakrishnan, the Vice President received a warm welcome from Krishna Ella, executive chairman of Bharat Biotech, and Suchitra Ella, co-founder and managing director of the company.
During the visit, the Vice President was provided with a virtual tour offering insights into the production facility's operations. From cutting-edge equipment to stringent quality control measures, the tour showcased the meticulous process involved in the research and development of each vaccine dose, including the Rotavirus Vaccine, Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine, and Hepatitis Vaccine.
