Safdarjung Hospital, in partnership with an NGO, hosted a free breast cancer screening and awareness camp as part of their ongoing efforts to combat the disease. Roli Singh, Additional Secretary of the Union Health Ministry, emphasized the ongoing public health challenge breast cancer poses in India during her attendance on Monday.

Singh highlighted the camp's role in equipping women with essential knowledge and accessible screening options. "Early detection is paramount for effective treatment and saving lives. Such initiatives play a crucial role in dispelling myths about breast cancer and encouraging women to prioritize their health," she commented.

Dr. Manish Choudhary, General Secretary of the NGO Respect India, expressed commitment to women's health through collaborations like this with VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital. "Our joint efforts aim to expand such initiatives and further support women's well-being," he added.

Led by Dr. Vandana Talwar, Medical Superintendent of VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, the camp aimed to raise awareness about breast cancer and offer complimentary screening for early detection. Dr. Talwar highlighted the prevalence of breast cancer among Indian women and stressed the life-saving impact of early detection.

Respect India, a leading NGO in the fight against breast cancer, not only offers free clinical breast examinations but also provides educational resources and counselling. The camp, which saw participation from around 200 women from Delhi and neighbouring regions, required no prior registration and was open to all.
